Record #152527:
Ice-sheet flow conditions deduced from mechanical tests of ice core / Atsushi Miyamoto, and 9 others.
Title: | Ice-sheet flow conditions deduced from mechanical tests of ice core / Atsushi Miyamoto, and 9 others. |
Author(s): | Miyamoto, Atsushi. |
Date: | 1999. |
In: | Annals of Glaciology. (1999.), Vol. 29 (1999) |
Abstract: | Describes uniaxial compression tests on samples of Greenland Ice Core project (GRIP) deep ice core to understand ice-flow behaviour of large ice sheets. Down to 2000 m, results can be interpreted in terms of increase in fourth-order Schmid factor. Flow-enhancement factor increases to 20-30 below 2000 m depth. Cloudy bands affect ice-deformation processes, but details remain unclear. |
Notes: | Annals of Glaciology. Vol. 29 :179-183 (1999). Sixth International Symposium on Antarctic Glaciology (ISAG-6), 5--9 September 1998, Lanzhou, China, T.H. Jacka (Editor) |
