Record #152527:

Ice-sheet flow conditions deduced from mechanical tests of ice core / Atsushi Miyamoto, and 9 others.

Title: Ice-sheet flow conditions deduced from mechanical tests of ice core / Atsushi Miyamoto, and 9 others.
Author(s): Miyamoto, Atsushi.
Date: 1999.
In: Annals of Glaciology. (1999.), Vol. 29 (1999)
Abstract: Describes uniaxial compression tests on samples of Greenland Ice Core project (GRIP) deep ice core to understand ice-flow behaviour of large ice sheets. Down to 2000 m, results can be interpreted in terms of increase in fourth-order Schmid factor. Flow-enhancement factor increases to 20-30 below 2000 m depth. Cloudy bands affect ice-deformation processes, but details remain unclear.
