| Abstract: | Simulates firn temperatures at Dome Summit South drill site, East Antarctica, by driving thermal model of ice sheet with observed instrumental records, 1960-96. Shows ice-sheet temperatures are about 0.8\degC cooler than mean 4 m air temperatures. Results from this firn modelling show temperature signal consistent with meteorological data once appropriate offsets are included. |
