Abstract: Interprets six snow-pit records from Siple Dome, West Antarctica, 1988-94, to give seasonal variations in chemical, isotopic and physical stratigraphic properties. Suggests most seasonal δD maxima occur within four weeks either side of 1 January. Other chemical species provide method for identifying summer accumulation. Visible strata are associated with summer accumulation. Multi- parameter approach gives most accurate dating of these snow-pit records.
