Abstract: | Ellen Burman has written grammar in two parts - Saami and Swedish. She describes her book and life that led to writing it. She was brought up speaking Saami, but went to further summer school, then to secondary schools in Malmberget and Kiruna. She always liked languages, and English, German and French were taught. She wanted to learn English at Uppsala, but had to continue her schooling at Falun. After marriage, birth of daughter and stay in Stockholm, where she started to read Saami, she moved north again to work for RSR at Jokkmokk. She decided to put grammars in one cover to help both Swedish and Saami readers. There is much interest in book among public. |
