Record #152383:
Endectocide treatment of the reindeer / Antti Oksanen.
Title: | Endectocide treatment of the reindeer / Antti Oksanen. |
Author(s): | Oksanen, Antti. |
Date: | 1999. |
In: | Rangifer. (1999.), Vol. 19, (Special Issue 11) (1999) |
Abstract: | Describes work on ivermectin, with some on moxidectin and doramectin, in experimental herd. It began by comparing methods of administration. Parasites treated were warbles, Hypoderma tarandi larvae, throat bots, Cephenemyia trompe larvae and gastro-intestinal nematodes. Difference in antiparasitic efficacy of different preparations is explained by pharmacokinetics of plasma concentration. Experiments tested whether timing of injections made difference. Summer treatment of calves in cooperatives had no effect on growth. It is probably better not to treat than to underdose. |
