Plateau icefields as contributing areas to valley glaciers and the potential impact on reconstructed ELAs: a case study from the Lyngen Alps, North Norway / Brice R. Rea, W. Brian Whalley, Tom S. Dixon, John E. Gordon.
Title: | Plateau icefields as contributing areas to valley glaciers and the potential impact on reconstructed ELAs: a case study from the Lyngen Alps, North Norway / Brice R. Rea, W. Brian Whalley, Tom S. Dixon, John E. Gordon. |

Date: | 1999. |
In: | Annals of Glaciology. (1999.), Vol. 28 (1999) |
Abstract: | Findings from study of glacierized area in maritime Lyngen Alps, North Norway, show plateaux as contributing areas supplying ice to valleys below. Calculates equilibrium line altitudes (ELAs) for Little Ice Age (LIA), accounting for input and no input of ice from plateaux above. Results show ELAs at significantly higher altitudes when plateaux are contributing ice mass. Wide implications of findings given. |
Notes: | Annals of Glaciology. Vol. 28 :97-102 (1999). Papers from the International Symposium on Glaciers and the Glaciated Landscape, 17--20 August 1998, Kiruna, Sweden, J. Kleman (Editor) |
