Palimpsest tunnel valleys: evidence for relative timing of advances in an interlobate area of the Laurentide ice sheet / Alan E. Kehew, Linda P. Nicks, W.Thomas Straw.

Title: Palimpsest tunnel valleys: evidence for relative timing of advances in an interlobate area of the Laurentide ice sheet / Alan E. Kehew, Linda P. Nicks, W.Thomas Straw.
Author(s): Kehew, Alan E.
Nicks, Linda P.
Straw, W. Thomas.
Date: 1999.
In: Annals of Glaciology. (1999.), Vol. 28 (1999)
Abstract: Proposes rapid retreat of Saginaw lobe in study area (southern Michigan and Indiana, USA) with advances of Lake Michigan lobe into recently deglaciated area, or overall retreat followed by stronger readvance of Lake Michigan lobe. Palimpsest tunnel valleys provide geomorphic evidence for these relationships. Buried ice eventually melted to produce highly collapsed hummocky valleys that form present landscape.
