Abstract: | Focuses on role of 'locality' and local history constructions in development of towns and settlements. Author suggests that contemporary local identity in West Greenlandic community of Sisimiut draws heavily on symbols originating from early days of industrialization ca. 1900 and strategically put into action for benefit of local community on national scale. |
