On the parameterisation of oceanic sensible heat loss to the atmosphere and to ice in an ice-covered mixed layer in winter / Bert Rudels, Hans J. Friedrich, Dagmar Hainbucher, Gerrit Lohmann.
Title: | On the parameterisation of oceanic sensible heat loss to the atmosphere and to ice in an ice-covered mixed layer in winter / Bert Rudels, Hans J. Friedrich, Dagmar Hainbucher, Gerrit Lohmann. |
Author(s): | Rudels, Bert. Friedrich, Hans J. Hainbucher, Dagmar. Lohmann, Gerrit. |
Date: | 1999. |
In: | European subpolar ocean programme : Sea ice-ocean interactions, deep convection and carbon cycling in the Greenland Sea. (1999.), Vol. 46(6-7) (1999) |
Abstract: | Discusses interactions between ice cover and entrainment during winter, with heat loss to atmosphere. Buoyancy input at sea surface due to ice melt is at minimum, model finds this corresponds to constant fraction of heat loss going to ice melt, leading to deep convection event. Compares conditions in Weddell Sea and Greenland Sea. |
