Record #151944:

A late Pliocene asteroid impact into the deep ocean (Bellingshausen Sea) - its documentation and paleoenvironmental implications / R. Gersonde, and 8 others.

Title: A late Pliocene asteroid impact into the deep ocean (Bellingshausen Sea) - its documentation and paleoenvironmental implications / R. Gersonde, and 8 others.
Author(s): Gersonde, R.
Date: 1999.
In: Berichte zur Polarforschung = Reports on Polar Research. (1999.), Vol. 343 (1999)
Abstract: Impact structure discovered by USNS Eltanin in 1981 is only one of ca. 150 identified impact structures known affecting deep ocean basin. Such impacts should occur at relatively short geological time intervals, modelling of Eltanin event will improve understanding influence of short-term catastrophic events on Earth's climatic history.
