Record #151600:

Diapirism in soils due to thaw of ice-rich material near the permafrost table / David K. Swanson, Chien-Lu Ping, Gary J. Michaelson.

Title: Diapirism in soils due to thaw of ice-rich material near the permafrost table / David K. Swanson, Chien-Lu Ping, Gary J. Michaelson.
Author(s): Swanson, David K.
Ping, Chien-Lu.
Michaelson, Gary J.
Date: 1999.
In: Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. (1999.), Vol. 10(4) (1999)
Abstract: Aims to demonstrate from own data and data in literature that diapirism and related density-driven soft-sediment deformation could occur routinely in active soil layer during summer as result of density differences due to water content, and so be responsible for some formation of involutions and periglacial patterned ground, together with frost heave along inclined freezing fronts.
