Record #151100:
Adaptation an niedrige Temperaturen: Lipide in Eisdiatomeen / Heidi Lehmal.
Title: | Adaptation an niedrige Temperaturen: Lipide in Eisdiatomeen / Heidi Lehmal. |
Translated title: | Adaptation to low temperatures: lipids in ice diatoms. |
Author(s): | Lehmal, Heidi. |
Date: | 1999. |
Language: | German. |
In: | Berichte zur Polarforschung = Reports on Polar Research. (1999.), Vol. 317 (1999) |
Abstract: | Describes work on diatoms Entomoneis kufferathii, Chaetoceros sp. and Nitzschia lecointei in Antarctica. Abiotic factors support formation of diverse assemblages, in bottom ice (stable conditions) and ice channels (high salinity in winter; temperature and light fluctuating). Author investigated whether diatoms are unable to adapt membrane fluidity to higher temperatures than 6 or 10 deg.C. Fatty acids and sterols were measured in series of experiments at these two temperatures, and complex results are discussed. |
Notes: | Berichte zur Polarforschung = Reports on Polar Research. Vol. 317 :1-121 (1999). English summary p.3. |
Keywords: | 58.03/.05 -- Plants, influence of physical environment. 58.036 -- Plants, influence of temperature. 582.261 -- Diatomaceae. G -- Botany. (*7) -- Antarctic regions. |
