Abstract: Bottom ice algal community from floe in autumn 1995 was cultivated at 10 salinities from 4 to 90 PSU for 19 days. Growth of species was sampled every 3 to 5 days. Final composition varied with salinity, from phytoflagellates and Chaetoceros spp. to diatoms of genus Nitzschia at higher salinities.
