Women in polar research - exotic elements, intruders or equals? / Bjørg Evjen.

Title: Women in polar research - exotic elements, intruders or equals? / Bjørg Evjen.
Author(s): Evjen, Bjørg.
Date: 1999.
In: Ottar. (1999.), Vol. 3 (1999)
Abstract: Author produces statistics and reminiscences to counter image of polar researchers. It is true that women are more likely to do research on material in labs, but some like Susan Barr and Monica Olsen have managed in male groups. Even sanitary aspects can be managed, not to mention toddlers. Lads' nets make it easier for male researchers, often unconsciously. Norway is easier than many countries for women polar researchers, but there is still tendency to remain childless.
