Date: 1999.
In: International Journal of Circumpolar Health. (1999.), Vol. 58(3) (1999)
Abstract: Register study, of all psychiatric first hospitalisations (1974-93) of persons born and resident in Greenland, compared rates for all admissions and for separate diagnostic groups with those for Denmark. Relative mortality rates for psychiatric patients compared with general population were computed. Rates for affective psychoses were low, especially among Greenland men, but for schizophrenia were high. Relatively low suicide rate compared with Denmark may be because suicide rate in Greenlandic population is very high.
