Impact of river discharge and regional climatology on the decay of sea ice in the Laptev Sea during spring and early summer / Jörg Bareiss, Hajo Eicken, Alfred Helbig, Thomas Martin.
Title: | Impact of river discharge and regional climatology on the decay of sea ice in the Laptev Sea during spring and early summer / Jörg Bareiss, Hajo Eicken, Alfred Helbig, Thomas Martin. |
Author(s): | Bareiss, Jörg. Eicken, Hajo. Helbig, Alfred. Martin, Thomas. |
Date: | 1999. |
In: | Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research. (1999.), Vol. 31(3) (1999) |
Abstract: | Uses ground and remote-sensing data and statistical analyses to show river discharge is insignificant factor in decay of Laptev Sea ice cover. Dynamic atmospheric forcing and opening and enlargement of coastal polynyas in spring affect sea-ice decay and summer ice extent most. |
Notes: | Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research. Vol. 31(3) :214-229 (1999). |
