Record #150629:

Recent glacier variations of the Hielos Patagónicos, South America, and their contribution to sea-level change / Masamu Aniya.

Title: Recent glacier variations of the Hielos Patagónicos, South America, and their contribution to sea-level change / Masamu Aniya.
Author(s): Aniya, Masamu.
Date: 1999.
In: Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research. (1999.), Vol. 31(2) (1999)
Abstract: Summarizes area variation of outlet glaciers of Hielos Patagónicos since 1944 and estimates volume of ice loss due to recession and thinning, to give contribution of Patagonian glaciers to sea-level change. Glacial retreat for Hielo Patagónico Norte appeared up to 1990, then retreat slowed down. Hielo Patagónico Sur showed most glaciers retreating, but Pio XI and Perito Moreno show net advance. Volume of ice loss accounts for 3.6% of total sea-level change. Considers climatic and other factors.
