Denudation of small alpine basins, Nanga Parbat Himalaya, Pakistan / John F. Shroder, Jr, Rebecca A. Scheppy, Michael P. Bishop.
Title: | Denudation of small alpine basins, Nanga Parbat Himalaya, Pakistan / John F. Shroder, Jr, Rebecca A. Scheppy, Michael P. Bishop. |
Author(s): | Shroder, John F., Scheppy, Rebecca A. Bishop, Michael P. |
Date: | 1999. |
In: | Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research. (1999.), Vol. 31(2) (1999) |
Abstract: | Assesses 33 debris fans and five small alpine basins on south side of Nanga Parbat Himalaya to find how much alpine processes contribute to overall denudation of massif. Model estimates denudation rates have been around 2 mm yr⁻¹ over past 4600 to 6000 years since last major deglaciation, similar to other parts of Himalaya. |
