Record #150407:

Ice jams in river confluences / Robert Ettema, Marian Muste, Anton Kruger.

Title: Ice jams in river confluences / Robert Ettema, Marian Muste, Anton Kruger.
Author(s): Ettema, Robert.
Muste, Marian.
Kruger, Anton.
Date: 1999.
In: CRREL Report. (1999.), Vol. 99-6 (1999)
Abstract: Confirms field observations of ice jams in vicinity of confluences with two laboratory models. One model identified processes whereby ice can jam in confluences and determined how selected parameters can influence them, other examined ice-jam formation at confluence of Mississippi and Missouri rivers. Produced formulations for estimating maximum rate of ice conveyance through channel confluences, and confirmation of efficacy of series of bendway weirs to mitigate ice-jam formation at this confluence.
