Record #150298:

I Riebevággie er det spor etter tidlig rendrift / Oddmund Andersen.

Title: I Riebevággie er det spor etter tidlig rendrift / Oddmund Andersen.
Translated title: In Riebevággie there is sign of early reindeer herding.
Author(s): Andersen, Oddmund.
Date: 1999.
Language: Norwegian.
In: Ottar. (1999.), Vol. 1 (1999)
Abstract: Traditionally, herding's origin explained with changes in Saami community in 15 and 1600s. Author's own research lead him to revise these assumptions. Coastal regions show signs of much earlier use by herding Saami. Research uses both archaeology and vegetation study. Summer dwelling place in South Troms, Riebevággie/Revdalen, is taken as example. Author clarifies term "intensive herding" and distinguishes East and West Saami methods.
