Abstract: Gives travel times of radar returns from scatterometer system at different frequencies to find dominant scattering contributions as function of depth in ice in Gulf of Bothnia. Comparison made with model predictions shows use of both C- and L-band radar images would improve sea ice monitoring in Baltic. In special issue: Fourth Circumpolar Symposium on Remote Sensing of the Polar Environments held at the Technical University of Denmark Lyngby, Denmark 29 April to 1 May 1996.
