| Abstract: | Reports large-scale bedrock rafts from moraines formed by three small cirque glaciers in Reindalen, Svalbard. Suggests these moraines form initial stack of rock-cored thrust slabs, confining cirque glacier. Advances against this barrier establish compressive regime in glacier snout, leading to erosion and moraine development. Erosion rates are order of magnitude greater than previously reported for Arctic regions. |
