Record #149154:

Variations in shear deformation rate with depth at Dome Summit South, Law Dome, East Antarctica / Vin Morgan, Tas D. van Ommen, Alan Elcheikh, Jun Li.

Title: Variations in shear deformation rate with depth at Dome Summit South, Law Dome, East Antarctica / Vin Morgan, Tas D. van Ommen, Alan Elcheikh, Jun Li.
Author(s): Morgan, Vin.
van Ommen, Tas D.
Elcheikh, Alan.
Li, Jun.
Date: 1998.
In: Annals of Glaciology. (1998.), Vol. 27 (1998)
Abstract: Shear deformation rate with depth for Dome Summit South (DSS), East Antarctica, is calculated by repeated borehole inclination measurements. Down to 1000 m deformation rates increase as expected, below this depth strain rates decrease. Spike 14 m thick in zone of retarded flow has shear rate 5 times that of surrounding ice, corresponding to ice deposited in Last Glacial Maximum. Surface velocity agrees with value from global positioning system (GPS)
