Abstract: Glaciers along length of Andes range from small snow patches in northern Chile to Southern Patgonian Ice Field (13,000 km²) in Chile and Argentina. Ice fields and glaciers of Patagonia relate to those of southern Alaska. In two parts: Glaciers of the dry Andes (includes a section on Rock glaciers by Arturo E. Corte); Glaciers of the wet Andes. Topography and climate influence position and size of glaciers.
