Record #148594:

Snowmelt and slushflows: hydrological and hazard implications / Martin Gude, Dieter Scherer.

Title: Snowmelt and slushflows: hydrological and hazard implications / Martin Gude, Dieter Scherer.
Author(s): Gude, Martin.
Scherer, Dieter.
Date: 1998.
In: Annals of Glaciology. (1998.), Vol. 26 (1998)
Abstract: Demonstrates role of meltwater accumulation and hydraulic pressure gradient in release process for slushflows in northwestern Spitsbergen and northern Sweden. Meltwater inflow higher than outflow in low-gradient valley sections found to be important. Slushflows represent transitional processes between fluvial floods and avalanches. Comparative evaluation of definition terms for fluvial floods, slushflows and avalanches offers basic data suitable for risk assessment.
