Record #148542:

Formation of ice layers by infiltration and refreezing of meltwater / W.T. Pfeffer, N.F. Humphrey.

Title: Formation of ice layers by infiltration and refreezing of meltwater / W.T. Pfeffer, N.F. Humphrey.
Author(s): Pfeffer, W. T.
Humphrey, N. F.
Date: 1998.
In: Annals of Glaciology. (1998.), Vol. 26 (1998)
Abstract: Studies process of ice-layer formation by modelling competition between infiltration of water across stratigraphic boundary in layered porous media and loss of water by refreezing. Contributes to discussion of how ice layers originate. Indicates increased frequency of ice layers in snow derives from greater temperature contrast between winter and summer conditions.
