Abstract: General remarks about adaptability of shamanism, with its lack of central organisation, and its relationship to nature and natural opposites, move via Silvio Zavatti's remarks on Eskimo culture to ancient poetry of Finns, especially nature magic of Loikala, Lönnrot's Kalevala and Kreutzwald's Estonian Kalevipoeg. Final excerpts are Zavatti's from Eskimo and one from Votyak.
