Abstract: Bear used to be thought "sacred animal" by Saami, respected and feared. Secret language had to be used, since bear could understand human speech. One name was "Old Man of the Moss". Before hunt, all perpared to welcome honoured guest. Men only hunted and prepared meat. Bones were buried in order. But bear was divinely sent, not worshipped.
