Abstract: 1. Examines political reforms introduced in Northwest Territories since 1967 and investigates, using concept of legitimacy, why these initiatives have not been sufficient to save Government of the Northwest Territories from territorial dismemberment. 2. Seeks to comprehend roots of division option and to determine why it was chosen as NWT's future political path. 3. Examines cost of division and future fincing of GNWT. 4. Concludes by looking at political structures that an eventual Deendeh Territory would likely inherit and to see how this future political unit would be financed and how it would acquire political legitimacy.
