In: Polarfronten. (1998.), Vol. 2 (1998)
Abstract: Short pieces describe: probable new islets out from 79 Glacier, noticed from Polarstern in 1993 and 1997; Hans Tausen Icecap melted during warm period 7-8000 years ago, and may do so again, but there is no cause for alarm; borings on Hans Tausen Icecap show North Greenland cooling steadily, like rest of Greenland, after warming during first half of century; whooper swans have emerged from Inland Ice after 2000 years, and muskox after 800; Tunit (Dorset) people of Thule set up impressive stone arrangements, interpreted as ritual shrines. Three such stone collections and three hut sites have been found at Qeqertaarsuit; threatened bee of Bornholm has new chance, as 20 families have been installed at Qassiarsuk, Tasiusaq and Upernaviarsuk in Greenland; and some well-intentioned efforts to avoid sea- sickness off Skjoldungen with ginger, cocoa and home-baked buns.
