Record #146999:

Vegetation exploitation by barnacle geese Branta leucopsis during incubation on Svalbard / Inger Greve Alsos, Arve Elvebakk, Geir Wing Gabrielsen.

Title: Vegetation exploitation by barnacle geese Branta leucopsis during incubation on Svalbard / Inger Greve Alsos, Arve Elvebakk, Geir Wing Gabrielsen.
Author(s): Alsos, Inger Greve.
Elvebakk, Arve.
Gabrielsen, Geir Wing.
Date: 1998.
In: Polar Research. (1998.), Vol. 17(1) (1998)
Abstract: Detailed vegetation mapping was used to estimate availability of food to individual pairs of geese. Diet was assessed through droppings. Behaviour in relation to snow melt patterns was recorded. Nest density was highest on early snow-free ridges, although late breeders also nested in moss tundra. Most pairs exploited mosaic of vegetable types.
