High serum antioxidants were measured where coronary heart disease is rare, and low serum alpha-tocopherol and albumin levels were typical where is common. Mountain Lapland is low in Chlamydia pneumoniae IgA antibody titre, unlike area to south with higher coronary mortality. Serum antioxidant levels were related to diet; alpha-tocopheral increased with consumption of reindeer meat and selenium with fish eating.
