Title: Stor succé i Strasbourg / Gustaf Jillker.
Translated title: Great success in Strasbourg.
Author(s): Jillker, Gustaf.
Date: 1998.
Language: Swedish.
In: Samefolket. (1998.), Vol. 79(8) (1998)
Abstract: Several aspects of Saami politics were brought together in wake of Saami exhibition in Strasbourg. Joiks, crafts, clothing, paintings, and foods portrayed aspects of Saami culture. EU policy on indigenous peoples was framed in cooperation with Saami Council. Alf Nystad, Norwegian Sameting and Barents Secretariat, spoke for Saami in Kola Peninsula. Lars Anders Baer believes English-speaking aboriginals have it best and worst. When Saami learn English, they will be protected in same sheepfold. MaLou Lindholm, who organised exhibition, warned that Saami could be hit by EU's eastward extension. Goal-6 programme, which financed many Saami projects, may disappear.
