Ilska över rovdjurskramarna vid vargseminariet i Gillhov / Anders Forsgren.
Title: | Ilska över rovdjurskramarna vid vargseminariet i Gillhov / Anders Forsgren. |
Translated title: | Anger over predation pressure at wolf seminar in Gillhov. |
Author(s): | Forsgren, Anders. |
Date: | 1998. |
Language: | Swedish. |
In: | Samefolket. (1998.), Vol. 79(4) (1998) |
Abstract: | Saami representatives thought proposals unrealistic and not thought out. Theme of seminar was The Four Greats - wolf, bear, wolverine and lynx. Arguments ranged around whether nature tours were feasible, with examples from USA and Romania, and what losses were tolerable. From 1996-97 61 000 deer were slaughtered, but 63 200 were killed by predators. Saami felt they were in same position as Inuit, who were not allowed by manipulations of Greenpeace and such to carry on their traditional occupations of sealing and whaling. |
Notes: | Samefolket. Vol. 79(4) :34-35 (1998). |
Keywords: | 39 -- Ethnography: Saami. 591.131.2 -- Predation. 599.74 -- Carnivora. N -- Renewable resources. (*3) -- Arctic regions. (*57) -- Sweden. |
