Record #146652:

A morpho-statistical study of cirques and cirque glaciers in the Senja-Kilpisjärvi area, northern Scandinavia / S. Hassinen.

Title: A morpho-statistical study of cirques and cirque glaciers in the Senja-Kilpisjärvi area, northern Scandinavia / S. Hassinen.
Author(s): Hassinen, S.
Date: 1998.
In: Norsk Geografisk Tidsskrift. (1998.), Vol. 52(1) (1998)
Abstract: Study describes cirques across Caledonian mountains in northern Scandinavia by map interpretation. Snow line and glaciation limit were determined and distribution of cirques was compared. Cirques are small, larger towards east. Aspects are mainly determined by dominant wind direction and solar radiation, but local topography is significant. Aspects of nearby glaciers are nearly same as those of cirques. Elevation increases towards east, while mountain heights increase more slowly.
