Abstract: Salvelinus alpinus L. is found in tidal spring area of Reykjanes at Straumsvík. Dwarf charr were captured in 1991 and 1995 in non-saline cold spring water that wells up in sea littoral zone and in ponds up to 200 m inland. Fish lived in crevices and pores in coarse basaltic lava. Charr occurred at up to nearly 4 per m² density. Article gives average sizes and breeding condition. Most fish were feeding on invertebrates, mainly amphipods and insect larvae and pupae. In sea they also ate polychaets and salmon lice. No other charr morphs were found.
