Airborne scanning lidar observations of aircraft contrails and cirrus clouds during SUCCESS / Edward E. Uthe, Norman B. Nielsen, Terje E. Osberg.
Title: | Airborne scanning lidar observations of aircraft contrails and cirrus clouds during SUCCESS / Edward E. Uthe, Norman B. Nielsen, Terje E. Osberg. |
Author(s): | Uthe, Edward E. Nielsen, Norman B. Osberg, Terje E. |
Date: | 1998. |
In: | Geophysical Research Letters. (1998.), Vol. 25(9) (1998) |
Abstract: | Describes use of real-time pictorial displays generated from lidar signatures to locate clouds and contrails during Subsonic aircraft: Contrail and Cloud Effects Special Study (SUCCESS). Analysis of data includes mapping of vertical distributions of individual precipitating ice crystals and their capture by cloud layers. |
Notes: | Geophysical Research Letters. Vol. 25(9) :1339-1342 (1998). |
Keywords: | 53.087.23 -- Remote sensing. 551.574.3 -- Condensation, ice particles in clouds. 551.322 -- Ice and snow. 548.5 -- Ice crystals. 629.7 -- Aerospace engineering. D -- Atmospheric sciences. |
