| Abstract: | Although Saami in Åre had no friend in local MP Gunnar Eriksson, when Riksdag took up position on civil rights in winter, on grounds traditionally used for grazing, rights in Åre were tested by court on only few occasions. One was when exciseman's elkhound started to worry Saami Kråik's deer and was shot. Court decided that no compensation was due, as dog was endangering deer in place where they had traditional rights. Article ends with description of tourist developments in hills of area in 1930s. |
