Abstract: Article describes Polar Eskimos' view of landscape as example of their traditional way of life and linguistic expression of it. Effects of Knud Rasmussen's trading station were marked, but trade was to some extent going on already, and he give fair prices. Other impacts from Thule air base, Danish belief in equal opportunities, homogenisation of Home Rule Greenland, schools, fashion boycott of skins and world communications are considered.
