Abstract: Phocoena phocoena has been seen around southern part of Greenland from Ammassalik to Avanersuaq, mainly between Sisimiut and Paamiut. Statistics from 1900 to 1993 give annual take of 27 to 1531 animals, and no estimate of stock size exists. Five fish species, crustaceans and squids have been found in stomachs. There are no indications of organochlorines, heavy metals or oil, or of noise disturbance. No reports of ice entrapment have been made. Disease patterns have not been studied in Greenland, nor have incidents of mass mortality been recorded. Killer whales are sparse along west coast.
