Representation of Antarctic katabatic winds in a high-resolution GCM and a note on their climate sensitivity / Michiel R. van den Broeke, Roderik S.W. van de Wal, Martin Wild.
Title: | Representation of Antarctic katabatic winds in a high-resolution GCM and a note on their climate sensitivity / Michiel R. van den Broeke, Roderik S.W. van de Wal, Martin Wild. |
Author(s): | Broeke, Michiel R. van den. Wal, Roderik S. W. van de. Wild, Martin. |
Date: | 1997. |
Abstract: | Critical appraisal of high resolution GCM (ECHAM-3 T106) that simulates many characteristic features of Antarctic climate, is improvement on previous simulations, but has shortcomings. Introducing enhanced greenhouse conditions allows study of climate sensitivity of Antarctic katabatic winds. Summertime winds show decrease of 15% in lower parts of ice sheet, but wintertime near-surface winds increase up to 10%. |
