Abstract: Examines effect of spatial pattern of mass balance on steady-state geometry of glacier using Vialov-Nye glacier-flow model. Predicts surface profiles with effects of geometry induced by different mass-balance patterns. Concludes that most of information relevant to geometry of glacier is contained in mean mass balance.
