Record #145555:

The Antarctic surface mass balance in a stretched grid general circulation model / Gerhard Krinner, Christophe Genthon.

Title: The Antarctic surface mass balance in a stretched grid general circulation model / Gerhard Krinner, Christophe Genthon.
Author(s): Krinner, Gerhard.
Genthon, Christophe.
Date: 1997.
In: Annals of Glaciology. (1997.), Vol. 25 (1997)
Abstract: Describes study of five-year high-resolution simulation of Antarctic climate using Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique (LMD) variable-grid atmospheric general circulation model (AGCM). Study focuses on simulated surface mass balance (precipitation-evaporation sublimation-melt) and spatial and temporal variability of snowfall in Antarctica. Though shelf areas are too dry and strong zonal variations in mass balance over Antarctic Peninsula are not well captured, simulated annual mean surface mass balance for whole continent is close to observed value and simulation of spatial distribution of surface mass balance is good.
