Record #145406:

Ice tank tests on compaction of a floating layer of circular ice floes / Edmond H. Hansen, Jukka Tuhkuri.

Title: Ice tank tests on compaction of a floating layer of circular ice floes / Edmond H. Hansen, Jukka Tuhkuri.
Author(s): Hansen, Edmond H.
Tuhkuri, Jukka.
Date: 1997.
Publisher: Otaniemi: Helsinki University of Technology, Ship Laboratory
Abstract: Describes ice tank tests designed to study floating layer of circular ice floes under compaction. Found that in thinner parts of marginal ice zone (MIZ) three-dimensional effect of rafting is important for deformation characteristics. Stress state in MIZ may be compaction-rate dependent when extensive rafting occurs.
