Abstract: Accounts of Greenland fishing gear from Saqqaq relics and notes by explorers from John Davis, 1586, onwards are quoted. Baleen line could be 364 fathoms long and was used for halibut, catfish, wolf fish, redfish and cod, while short lines on rods could catch sea scorpions. Material of jigs is natural or improvised from cloth, lead, cartridge cases etc.
