| Abstract: | Since 1968 fjords from Ryfylke to Finnmark have been surveyed acoustically to obtain indices of abundance of 0-group sprat and Norwegian spring spawning herring. There was strong increase in estimates of herring in fjords in Nordland-Finnmark from 1995. Genetic analyses used LDH-2in assessing population structure. Mixtures with local fjord herring were found in several areas. Both species were examined for fungus Ichthyophonus hoferi. Infection rate was low: 1/1053 sprats, 7/985 herring. |
