Abstract: Childhood diabetes is common and rising in Nordic countries. Health status, mode of coping with adult health care and medical treatment were investigated in 82 young adults at Oulu who had had diabetes since childhood. Blood glucose monitoring, lipohypertrophy, reflexes, retinopathy, conduction velocity of peroneal nerve, psychiatric problems, social maturation, vocational education, and occurrence of physical or psychosocial problems were investigated. These were independent of health care follow-up.
