Record #144805:

Den grønlandske kristendomsopfattelse fra Hans Egede til vore dage / Mogens Hindsberger.

Title: Den grønlandske kristendomsopfattelse fra Hans Egede til vore dage / Mogens Hindsberger.
Translated title: The Greenland understanding of Christianity from Hans Egede to our time.
Author(s): Hindsberger, Mogens.
Date: 1997.
Publisher: Copenhagen: Museum Tusculanums Forlag
Language: Danish.
Abstract: Builds on author's books on Egede, 1971, historical sources and "Greenlanders' outlook in the 1990s", 1997, to give portrait of religious-social concepts that have changed over time, concepts that have apparently remained remote or second-hand, and concepts tied to former hunting and trapping lives in small units that have remained, often strongly, even in urban setting. First-hand account is almost all from author (plus interpreter)'s one-to-one interviews with 47 Greenlanders, where much was revealed, in confidence that author would preserve anonymity. Some informants had deep personal Christian faith, many had mixture of old beliefs about, e.g. reincarnation. Younger generation was more sporadically involved in worship, with Pentecostalists main exception.
