Abstract: Dass's publication "Nordlands Trompet" gave many details of daily life, including food (many fish) commonly consumed in 17th Cent. Norway. Trompet was itself presented as meal. Whaling and sealing are described, including Reidar whale 230 m long, but Dass was usually accurate.
