Hushold, økonomi og politikk i reindrifta / Ragnar Nilsen.

Title: Hushold, økonomi og politikk i reindrifta / Ragnar Nilsen.
Translated title: Household, economy and politics in reindeer herding.
Author(s): Nilsen, Ragnar.
Date: 1997.
Publisher: Tromsø: Senter for samiske studier
Language: Norwegian.
In: Kunnskap, politikk og ressursforvaltning. (1997.),
Abstract: To understand difficult situation of over-grazing and reindeer death in inner Finnmark, one must first understand household organisation. Nowadays, men herd full time, while younger and middle-aged women are in employment, besides occasional reindeer work, but not traditional craftwork. Income from employment may be diverted to increase size of deer flock. Another cause of over-grazing is monocultural aspect of herding - just for meat. All-round herding in Kautokeino in 1960 is compared with situation in 1990.
